Major Walt Disney Studios Expansion!

On February 27th 2018 there was major news coming for the oh so needed Walt Disney Studios. There was a major expansion announced!
Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company announced that, after they bought back Disneyland Paris from the EuroDisney company, they will inject 3 billion dollar into the French resort.

We will start of course with the biggest news!
3 news lands and 1 expansion of the already existing Toy Story Land.

The 3 new lands are:

  • Marvel Land
  • Star Wars Land
  • Arendelle (Frozen Land)

Marvel land starts construction in April of 2019 and ends somewhere in 2020.
Right now the construction is very obvious and people have been calling it “Wall Disney Studio’s” because of all the walls that have been up for the pre-construction and closing of rides.
It’s something that has been needed for over a decade, but the prices as far as we know will not go down in price, which begs the question, is the park still doable for people who just go for a day or two without a year pass.
Marvel Land will be in the left side of the park where the backlot used to be with the Moteurs… Action! Stunt Show Spectacular, Rock n Rollercoaster and Armageddon rides.
That means that all these are already closed or are closing soon.
The backlot has never been a favorite with Disney fans, and people never really had any need to go to the park untill Rattatouille and Crush’s Coaster were build.
Toy Story land is fun, but it’s lacking, especially now that there is a much bigger one in Disneyworld.

What will the new attractions be?
With this announcement they announced that Rock n Rollercoaster will become an Iron Man rollercoaster. It will have the exact same track layout, but the design will be completely new.
They also recently announced that Armageddon will become a Spider-man ride. There’s no real info on it yet.

Like you can see with the above picture, building wise, not much will change. However you can clearly see that it will have a more blue tone to everything, which indicates S.H.I.E.L.D.

Recently Disney gave some more info on how they are going to do Marvel Land.
They want to make an ongoing story from all over the world that interconnects, just like in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The following resorts will gain a Marvel Land:

  • Disneyland Anaheim
  • Disneyland Paris
  • Disneyland Shanghai

Rumors are that Anaheim will be S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, where Paris and Shanghai will be international recruiting places.
Paris will be the European S.H.I.E.L.D. recruitment facility and will also have everything that a S.H.I.E.L.D. base would have. Therefor they are changing the backlot quick service restaurant into a S.H.I.E.L.D. mess hall.

Next up is the expansion of Toy Story Land.
Toy Story land has a special place in my heart because of the memories I have as a kid watching Toy Story and playing with my Buzz Lightyear action figure.
So that it’s finally getting the love that it deserves in my opinion is a really good move!

Between Toy Story Land and the other two new lands will be a big hub that is a gigantic round lake just like Epcot in Walt Disney World.

Next is Star Wars Land!
Something that many kid has dreamed of and many adult has begged for. Unfortunately it won’t be as big as the one in Anaheim, but it will still be very impressive!

Not much info is given at this time, but the information that has given out is really exciting! The first ride that will be included is a First Order darkride and there will be Star Wars themed restaurants, bars and shops.
There won’t be full-sized Millennium Falcon like in Anaheim, but from what we can see it will be very impressive!

Last up, Arendelle. Also known as Frozen Land!

This is the first mountain of Disney Hollywood Studios. Normally every park has a mountain but Disneyland Paris only had their Space Mountain and for the Studio’s park Hollywood Tower of Terror.
So a mountain is pretty cool!

Arendelle looks very promising in theming, it looks very Scandinavian, but it looks like it’s an actual town from Scandinavia. Next to the town you see the Castle.
I’d expect a ride to be in there, but no information has been given yet.

Overall I’m the most excited about the lake portion of it. Why?
It has a very resembling figure like Epcot. For the people who don’t know what Epcot is:
Epcot is one of the 4 parks in Walt Disney World that is a gigantic round lake with several countries of the world surrounding it. You can travel the world in manner of hours while trying the food.

They always said that Disneyland Paris is for the stories, while Disneyworld is for the world. So it would make sense to take Disney movies and place them around the lake.
One that I would be very exciting about would be Coco. It would fit this idea so great because they can use what they have in Mexico and make it like the day of the dead.

We know that this is only phase one of multiple phases they are planning, but we do know, great things are coming!
Are you excited aswell? Leave a comment down below!
